The Color Run is the largest event series in the United States and the first of its kind. Travis Snyder founded the 5k paint race series in 2012, creating a new genre of running experience. The Color Run celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality by bringing communities together for a five-kilometer canvas of colorful fun.
Innovation is so important in the experience focused industry and each year the team behind the “Happiest 5K” works to create an immersive and transformative experience for all of the participants. Although The Color Run remains the same at the core, we creatively develop new elements to surprise and delight the runners each year.
We seek to provide an event where people can create memories that will last forever, long after the color settles. To do so, the company has focused on a couple of key things. First, we like to focus intensely on the local market we serve in order to make a deep and lasting connection with all of our participants. This involves partnering with a local charity in the community in order to give back to something bigger than the race itself. This also involves developing unique ways to incorporate local flavor into the event as well. This could include anything from creating a color zone dedicated to a local college or group to having a local group perform a cheer or local routine on stage during the festival. Community involvement is a huge part of keeping our events fun and innovative.
Each year, The Color Run also gathers to plan its new “tour” for the following year. In 2014, we created the Kaleidoscope tour which featured life size kaleidoscopes that provided a great opportunity for photos and lasting memories with friends and family. In 2015, we were thrilled to roll out the Shine tour which incorporated a glitter based powder to bring another fun and exciting element to our events. By creating these new themes each year, The Color Run is able to attract participants back by giving them a new and exciting experience from the previous year. Innovation is essential to everything we do at The Color Run and is at the core of what we believe in as an event company.
As Dr. Seuss once said, “Why fit in, when you were born to stand out?” At The Color Run, we aim to stand out from other races and fun events and to do so, we will continue to focus on our participants and the communities that we are involved with.
